2010 thus far was filled to the brim with Air Jordan Retro releases; the Air Jordan VI and Air Jordan IXsaw seven separate releases each, and we’re not even counting the kids colorways. Even yesterday, Sneaker News broke the news about the Air Jordan II ‘Candy Pack’ slated for a release later this year. It was time to step aside and take in Retro influx, but it looks like Jordan Brand isn’t done yet; a rumored re-release of the Air Jordan XIII (13) ‘Altitude’ is expected to drop sometime during the Holiday season. The Altitudes dropped in February of 2005, which makes the re-release of a somewhat recent shoe questionable considering the number of Air Jordan XIIIs that have yet to see a second at-bat.

Also rumored for a Summer 2011 release is the Air Jordan III (3) True Blue and the Air Jordan VII (7) Cardinal. The Cardinal was even more recent than the Altitudes, releasing just four years ago in the summer of 2006 alongside the “Flint” VII. The True Blue III did indeed release just last year as an Asia-only release, but this is one re-release we can wholly agree on as a stateside drop-date seems probable. Also confirmed for Summer 2011 is the Air Jordan VII Bordeaux which has been pushed back to from its original early 2011 ETA. With all these  releases in the books, Jordan Brand is taking a completely relentless approach with the Retros, giving Jordan-heads almost no time to make decisions.

Here’s the second colorway of the Air Jordan Prime 5 upon which we can cast a detailed look.  A combination of Air Jordans 1 and V, the Prime 5s came together somewhat differently than you might have expected.  The side panel netting is here, albeit in the form of molded leather rather than the actual breathable material, and the AJ5’s signature ’sharkstooth’ is conspicuous by its absence.  Instead, the AJ Prime 5 rocks the upgraded AJ Alpha 1 sole with its Zoom Air cushioning, and adds more AJV flavor to the AJ1 silhouette in the form of the recognizable plastic eyelets and alterations to the heel and toe shapes.

With fit-enhancing lace locks, reflective tongue and clear rubber outsoles for sole-to-the-hole traction, MJ and Hatfield once again surpass previous designs with these new innovations. Michael pilots his way to a careerhigh 69 points against Cleveland and his fourth scoring total with an average of 33.6 points per game. Design inspiration came from World War II Mustang fighter planes, as seen in the shark teeth profile on the midsole.
